Default Navi Debug mode, anyone knows how to get in

Hi there.

Long time no talk. Hope everyone is doing okay. Hey, I have a question. Does anyone knows how to get to the 2001 DVD based Navi's Debug screen.

Lately I've had a lot of problem getting my Nav to sync with the satellite. Dealer couldn't find the problem, and I want to know how many satellite my nav is actually seeing.. You can do that in the debug mode, but the lovely mechanics who told me that decided NOT to tell me how to turn it on....... haa...

Hopefully someone here knows and can shred some light for me

thanks
JC

this was discussed VERY VERY long ago, back at the old ClubLexus board I think.

I don't know the exact location but it's like you tap this top left place twice and tap the bottom left place twice and you'll get into debug mode or something but I don't know exactly how it works because my NAV is 2000.

Press the Info, then Display button. Where the display box frames the info area, press the top left, bottom left, top left, and then bottom left. That should do it.

The car also has to be in park for it to work (I'm not sure about having the brake depressed - I'd suggest trying it both ways if it doesn't work the first time). I have the directions printed out from the last posting, but they're at home and I'm at the office now. Let me know if you aren't successful and I'll find them and post them for you.

Follow ptam28's direction I got it to work.
Remember.... info then display.... you will get a frame around your info... Press the top left and bottom left (within the frame) 3 times up down, up down, up down, and you should get in.

In terms of what it accomplish... well.. that depends on what you wanted to find out.
For me, I need to know how many satellites are sync'ing with my GPS system... so I went there to check it out.

Well, I tried and did not work for me...... Am I doing anything wrong?

I put car on "park", press "info" button, then "display" button, I pressed upleft then lower left corrons withing the frame.....3,4 5, 6, times...... nothing happened :-(

Is there a time delay requitred between each press or something else that I was missing.......

Thanks for the help.

Hi Everybody,

Sorry -- I haven't been on CL for a few days, and I honestly forgot that I promised to find the old instructions and post them again. Here they are as they were previously posted, but I don't have the diagram that was included, so I'll have to try to explain where you push in step 4 below:

1) Apply the parking brake
2) Turn the stereo on
3) Press "Display"
4) Press each of the blank areas above the speaker icon and below the ASL (but still in the grey box) slowly in alteration three times (up, down, up, down, up down). Sometimes you have do it more than three times. That should do it!

Let me know if this helps!

Thanks Larry, that worked!

One quick question, other than monitoring verious fuction and sensors, is there any other function behind that? Also, the only way that I can get back to normal is by turning the ignition key off. Is there any other way to get back without shut the car off?

Thanks a lot.
