clunk noise ?
i have a 2000 gs300 and i just recently changed the ball joints at 75k. there was nothing wrong with my old balljoints but it was just for piece of mind. but after about a month whenever i steer left when the car is barely moving i hear a clunk noise from the left wheel or axel?
its not that bad but its loud enough for me to hear and cause a bit of a concern. does any 1 know what the problem might be?

Hi, I have a 2000 with 230K and have had a clunk all has been unable to find for 50K. Finally, i think i have some traction. I have replaced the upper control arms as well as the control arms, and sway are bushings. Seems better now. Good luck. I would look at the upper control arms.

This sounds EXACTLY like what I was dealing with last summer. Turned out to be the sway bar contacting part of the subframe(or other component?) not real sure but the shop said they just had to adjust something.
Sorry, this probably isn't all that helpful but maybe the shop can check that out for minimal dough.
Good luck to ya.

It sounds like the upper control arm might be the problem. I had the very same problem last summer & had it replaced along with the ball joints since our cars are notorious for dropping to the ground while moving.

mine also makes this noise. occasionally, during slow speed turns, i hear a clunk. could be ball joints but i've already checked those out in my class. i will repost when i find a solution

Bushings?
You may want to check your bushings? I had this same problem and after replacing my ball joints and bushings, the clunking noise went away and hasn't returned? The noise clunked when I would turn the wheel while backing out of the driveway and would do it upon hard braking also? Our cars are notorious for wearing out the ball joints and bushings faster after the car has been lowered? The OEM bushings weren't desgined to handle the stress of the car being lowered, so they wear faster than at the normal stock height? I used the Daizen bushing kit along with replacing the ball joints and upper control arms. I was told not to replace the lower control arm bushings due to tramlining? Good luck and keep mus posted?
