The alarm shouldn't cause any problems unless it is shorting or for some reason drawing way too much current. If the previous owner had this problem then something is wrong. Something is drawing too much current, or is not shutting off when you turn off the ignition. This is NOT normal. And no, the battery will not fully charge after being fully discharged in 1 hour of driving. However, this doesn't seem to be your problem as your problem is the battery shouldn't be discharging within a day like yours seem to be.
At this point you definitely need to see a professional so they can isolate the circuit that is drawing all that current and discharging your battery.
