hi guys...i need some help... i recently bought a 2001 gs300 and the whole center console was gone.. the climate control and radio got stolen...well, i went to the junk yard and bought a climate control off of a 1999 gs300. the climate control plugs right into my car and it works. Everything works, but the problem is that the air only come out the front four vents on the dash.... when i change the mode to blow air on bottom for our legs or on the top for the windshield, it has no response and continues to blow in the same front 4 vents...i also notice that when i first plugged in the climate control unit and started my car, there was a loud vibrating sound coming out of the front middle two vents on the dash for about 30 seconds then stops....could any body help me on this??

 

I think there should be a write up on this somewhere... a solenoid needs to be changed I believe.

it sounds like your MODE servo is out....

hahaha i didnt really think when i did that DIY it would be linked everywhere (or maybe its just cause its winter time) but i forgot we ALL have this problem.i wonder how long my new ones will last,hell im not even entirely done with mine...i actually just bought a new climate control assy because ASIDE from my servos being bad it seems my climate control assy had a short in it! (wont know till car goes to mechanic, but i just couldn't pass up the price on this) oddly enough, item came from another user on here

is there anyway to determine if my mode servo is bad...like if i take it out, will there be anything on it that would look messed up indicating that it is bad..?

 

also, if a mode servo is out, is it still possible for it to still blow air in your face?

 

no just visually, you'll never notice one is messed up. yes it can still blow air on your face...mine used to work when they wanted...
when you start it up...do u hear a sound kinda like a hard drive on a computer? when you take dash out...and start the car you can hear this noise and should be able to tell for sure..i'll check on ya when i get back in town and see where your at with this or maybe if i get time on the laptop (i hate laptops)

 

thanks!...and yea i hear that loud hard drive sound for about 30 seconds then stops....but this only happens when i unplug the 2 plugs on the back of the climate control and putting it back on then starting my car.. it just happens once in a while when i start my car too....so it must be the mode servo right?
