hello Mr. Magazine Racer.. i didn't mean to break up your party..

I have seen S4's at the track run 14.4 - 15.0 stock..

my proof?

i have seen numerous races with the GS 400 and S4 and all the times the S4 lost.. maybe you guys just don't know how to drive your automatics?

Now, I don't get into quote mags and the like becasue of their reputation, but I will quote this snippet from Edmunds, only because I say it DOES give the S4 a

"snow ***** chance in hell beating a GS 400"

Take it FWIW

Here's the full article in case anyone want to read up - Article

I'd venture a guess that gives it a "snow ***** chance in hell beating a GS 400" but who really cares about my guesses, I know.

Enjoy your Friday

Hmm, name calling. Good tactic.

You should have included your proof in the first place all-knowing-one.

Pretty certain I mentioned I quoted the mag just to give you and others and idea that in fact the S4 is rather competitive with the GS4; its not a habit.

Hey, you're right, I don't know how to drive my auto, but I sure have fun trying.

Where do you live? Perhaps we can meet up for a friendly street competition? No? I have to get some timeslips to show, huh?

Well, I don't drive my car on the track (because I can't, I know), I drive it on the street, and its a lot easier to find fun scenarios on the street. "Real world kills", I guess would be a good phrase, because I don't drive around without my spare, or without passengers, or with lower pressure in my tires, bottle fed, etc. I mash it, and I go.

While I value your opinions, I could do without the attitude, as I'm sure the rest of us could as well.

thats very good.. would you like another cookie? you should take your car to the track.. it takes some skill to launch a car.. plus its fun to meet other car owners and learn more about other cars..

attitude comes with the package.. you don't like it.. don't address it..

Regardless of the BS attitudes going on here, I still don't think the GS will win. We keep saying stock, yet how many of our cars here are stock? If we are allowed to tweak our cars, then so are they. You know what? Most S4's are not stock. There is no performance upgrade that we can do for $600 that the Audi guys can do and give that same kind of performance.

I love my GS, but I see it for what it is.

Oh, and regarding racing with E-shift. Everything I have read and experienced for myself says that leaving it in auto is the fastest way to shift. I guess Maxowners car is special, just like him.

Interesting info!!! I would have bet $$$ that an S4 was quicker than the GS. Hmmm. I am gonna go out and find one to pick on tonight.

Stock S4 6 speed has run 13.9 best and average is about 14.2-14.4 (timeslips). And as someone pointed out, they have also clocked some 15's : ) and I think even a 16 somewhere!! Remember that average time of 14.2-14.4 is without spare and most likely 100 octane and a "non heat soaked car" or optimum conditions. The launch is tricky, you have a very good chance of bogging or smoking the clutch. Most of the time the 60' times are 1.9 to 2.05. THe car does pull well for the full 1/4 mile.
Just some real numbers from timeslips and not mag numbers.
A automatic that can run low 14's might do very well because it can be more consistent.
