when i got my GS,it did the same thing, i installed the aftermarket dvd player using the factory amp worked out great, turns out the factory's headunit output was burning out.
common problem on the lexus is the factory amplifer. located on rear right corner do to moisture.

mine does this when im bumping music with a lot of bass for 2 hrs straight. after it cools down, its fine again. i always thought it was the amp getting too hot, are you saying the head unit is the culprit we todd it? i've got the Nak.
