Default Paint PEELING on my new LExus!!

I have had my car for a little over a month now. I first noticed a little circle of paint had flecked off on the front bumper about 3 weeks ago. I thought no big deal, road chips are unavoidable in Wisconsin.. especially in pot hole patching season. Well it was the first nicer Saturday in a while so I was outside diggin my car and then I looked at the front.. Whhhaaaattt is this..?

Can this be botched fix? The Carfax checked out ok.. I looked at the radiator has bugs and looks like it was the original from the factory. Cross-braces look fine, everything looks original. I hope this does not just happen..

could possibly be that the front had so many chips that owner got a cheapo paint job on the front bumper so they wouldnt have problems selling it. Looks like time for a repaint, but a good quality one

Any idea about what I should expect to pay for a quality re-spray?

As a matter of fact I did. I "thought" it was better than the conventional wash. Can it be that strong..?

Pressure washing a flaky paint job will make it flake off. If the paint is lifting or bubbling, then using high pressure water to it will gaurantee the paint to come off.

So what do you all think? So I have any grounds with the dealer that I bought it from? I have only owned it for about 2 months?
The dealer is about 2.5 hours away so..?

I would generally agree with GS300Rich above about a cheap, quick fix (poor paint job) for rock chips. Since you bought this car from a dealer then I would most certainly bring it to their attention. Tell them that you haven't done anything extraordinary, just normal driving, etc, and that the paint is coming off the front bumper pretty quickly.

No kind of car wash shouldn't do that to a car...unless it uses razor blades instead of sudsing cloths.

Good luck!

that would not do it...i hit my car with the power washer prior to washing to remove heavy dirt.

as far as re spraying it, you should be looking at 400-500 for a good job.

1. you want the bumoer taken off the car, not left on and have everything taped off.

2. you wanr the fogs taken out, not taped off

3. you dont want it scuffed and re-sprayed. a proper job consists of fully sanding, wet sanding, priming, paint, and ATLEAST a 2 stage clear, wetsand and polish

4. paint wise, make sure body shop uses PPG.

sure, you can go to a "mako" and get it done for $100, but 3 months later you will be in the same boat again...this time with the entire bumper cover
