Question 245-30-20 vs. 245-35-20 - any rubbing issues in the front?

Hello All,

I have been researching some front tire sizes and would like to check if there have been any rubbing issues with 245-35-20. 35 series tires are much cheaper and there is so much more selection. I understand it will be a taller tire and throw off the speedo...

so, to the question, any rubbing issues with 35 series tires? I searched and it seems like rubbing issues is on the fender liner only.... Should i consider 30's instead?

Thanks!

It all depends on your drop, width and offsets of your wheels.

i dont know my offsetts on my wheels....but i am running a 20x9.5 with a 245/35/20 and my Tein SS's are all the way down and i get ZERO rubbing...even pulling into driveways or turning full lock on bumpy roads....im actually going to go with a 255/35/20 because i just dont like the lip of my wheel that close to the ground lol

I am going to be running 20x7.5 +35MM offset. A bit toss up on the front tire. Not sure if i should go with 245/35/20 or 245/30/20.

ideally i'd like to go with 35 series tire because it is cheaper and more sidewall protection...

I am lowered on Tein S-tech springs.

Jimmy: With the roads here, I can't advise you to run 30 series sidewall tire. With some of the freeways/roads near where you live, you know the wheels will get damaged within a week!

You plan on running the 15mm spacer up front with those wheels?

P.S. A 245 will look really fat on a 7.5" wide wheel. Maybe you should consider a 235 instead?

I actually want to go with the 245 on the 7.5" wheel. it should be OK. I just want more rubber. Also, i probably do not plan to use spacers for these wheels.

I was about to go with 35 series tires but i have heard from a lot of 3GS people having trouble with rubbing, so i'd like to check with our 2GS members.

I rub slightly on a full lock turn with my 20x8.5 and +22 offset. The tire is a 245/35/20. The car is lowered; no gap between fender and top of tire.

Great. Seems like I would go for the 35 series tires. Looks like I should be ok because my offset is +35MM.

whazzzuup... do you have fender mods for your front wheel?

I DIY rolled (and slightly pulled) my fenders at all 4 corners.

Yeah.... definitely go with a 35 series. If you don't mind the bulge of a 245 on a 7.5", go for it.
