Tail light warning

Tail light warning
Hey guys,
I have a 2001 GS300 with LED taillights. I just purchased the car from someone and when I turned the light switch on the TAIL LIGHT WARNING light came on.
Well i've checked all the bulbs, license plate, brake lights, rear indicators etc. However I cannot find anything wrong.
Any ideas if these taillights require some sort of a load resistor or something?
anyone replace their taillights with LED ones and have this issue?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Check the 3 lights in the rear window
Hi,
With standard bulbs out back, the rear window light bulbs last so long, we forget about them. These HIGH STOP LIGHTS come on when the brakes are depressed. If ANY of these bulbs are blown, the light will show up on the dash when the engine is running. HOWEVER, LED tailights are a different problem.
I would still try to replace the rear window bulbs. If any of the bulbs are blown, replace all of them all, and you'll know you have the right one.
Sorry, I can't help with the LED taillights though. They may be missing the diodes the standard light assemblies have.
Good luck!

LED lights trigger the light out indicator. People install resistors in parallel, but taking out the bulb indicator from your dash does the same thing. If you use resistors the indicator WILL NOT tell you if your LEDs burn out. The indicator only works if you have OEM incandescents. That's why you might as well just take out the warning bulb.
I believe there are 5 light bulbs in your third brake light. If any of those are out, I think that will trigger as well.
Do a search and read up on the old LED tail threads, back when LEDs first came out YEARS ago. Try searching under "Carson Tails" or "LED Tails" etc.

Hey guys,
thanks for all the suggestions, to be honest I would rather just remove the bulb as that would be a lot more easier.
Also, weird question, you guys mention the third brake light, I don't think mine has one, the only brake lights I have are taillights, spoiler.
I don't have a third brake light, unless I am missing something?!

So you say "spoiler" meaning what? That you have an OEM spoiler with third brake light???
In any case ALL GS come with OEM third brake lights, either in the rear window tray or in the OEM spoiler. If you have neither, then your car has been modded. If your third brake light is not connected, i.e.gone, then that may also be why the bulb out indicator is triggering.
Just take out the indicator bulb and be done with it.
