Default Converting interior wood to black project!

Hello everyone!

I've always day dreamed of somehow converting the wood on the interior of my GS400 to black because everything else on my ride is black (interior/exterior).

Well, I was bored this weekend so I thought I'd give it a go! I removed the rear passenger side wood panel to do a test run. It was extremely easy to take out (about 5 minutes). I primed it, painted it, and clear-coated it! I must say that I was very happy with the results!!

If you're interested in the specific brands of primer and paints I used just let me know and I'll fill you in

Within this next week I'm planning on finishing the other three wood panels as well as the wood center console! Once this is done I'll probably top off the project with a new black and carbon fiber shift **** or something like that!

Looks good, even though the pic is dark! Did you have to remove the entire door panel or does the wood pop out when pried?

Do you have more and better quality photos? It looks pretty good from what I can tell but the photo is a bit grainy.

I've been thinking about getting mine sprayed Piano Black by a pro... This looks pretty promising... What was involved in getting them out?

I finished another panel this afternoon and it turned out even better!! I do have a few pictures of it that are better quality but I'm new to posting and I need some directions on how to add more pictures!

If someone can tell me how to do so I will gladly post them tonight

You have to take off the entire interior door panel and unscrew the wood insert from behind. I uploaded a newer picture of the other rear passenger wood insert I did today! I took a little more time on this one and it turned out even better than the first. I highly reccomend that you take some time and try to do it yourself and save $$$...In my opinion the quality seems as good as having it done professionally!! Even the clear coat seems as shiny and and glossy as it was stock

Thanks!

I'll put it back in the door tomorrow and take some pics! I would do it tonight but I don't want my car to smell like paint chemicals in the morning! lol

Piano black would look classy... that carbon fiber wrap job is so clean! I wonder if I should attempt this since I am going for a more sporty look.
