falling trunk lid!!! F Gravity
Yo, i have a 01 gs3 and the trunk wont stay up. My driveway has a slight incline and the trunk always falls on my back. (hella annoying) It's like the srings are too weak to hold it up. I don't have a wing or a lip to weigh it down. does anyone have the same problem or a solution. I'm guessing the cars that came with a wing from the factory have stronger springs?? has anyone swapped the spings to fix the trunk from falling, or is there an aftermarket struts to hold the trunk up???

This actually happened to me on Friday and no joke I almost had to go to the hospital. My trunk lid has always been really "weak" and barely stays up but I have never actually been hit by it before this happened.
I got my 3GS wheels from farkas and parked next to the dump in my complex which is on an incline, so I get out of my car, pop the trunk and lean down to pull the rim out of the box in my trunk (so i can throw the box away) and the edge of the trunk lid came down full force and caught me right above the hairline.
It hit me so hard that I went black for a few seconds and then stood up and my vision was actually somewhat blurry. My neighbor saw it happen and ran out and made me sit down for a few minutes. The bump is still huge .

Anyone have a 1st gen GS? ive been hit with both..
Last week I was half way in the trunk getting something and mine came down on the middle of my back, still sore..
Now that 1st gen trunk lid has to weigh a good 5 times more than ours..
That thing is a straight killer..

If your torsion bars are no good, just get new ones.
The DIY from the post above will only go so far, and won't help much if you have the wrong bar or really really weak bar.
With the online pictures from trademotion/parts.com or carson or other parts suppliers no need to guess about part numbers anymore.
They will cost for the pair about $40 (parts.com) or $60 (MSRP) if you have some strange loyalty to pay more to a particular vendor.
If you have the wrong ones (spoiler or no spoiler) just get a new pair.
Pick up any other OEM random parts for your car too to save on bundled shipping.
