Hell ya, I'm glad that you took "in progress" pics so shows us how its going down. It looks smooth sailing so far.

How many member's have PM'd you looking for the same hookup since your original thread about whether to paint or not? I bet a bunch after seeing the progress they've made.

I am not that familiar with how painting works to be fully honest but he said he took the inner tail lights and brought them into the paint booth and sprayed a very light coat of the "smoke" paint on the outers, let it dry, then compared it to the inners. He mentioned something about using a light test to match the colors as closely as possible and said it took 3 coats total to get them perfectly matched.

Haha I have gotten a few inquiries. If these guys do as good of a job as I am expecting, I think they might get pretty busy

I have heard nothing but horror stories about Maaco so I don't know what to tell you. I don't even know if that is where the previous owner had the car painted...he could have done it in his own garage from what I can tell!

were they able to take off all the trim on the car without damaging anything? or do you need to replace all of them trims?

They were able to salvage the trim but I chose to replace the pieces on the front and rear bumper. Both pieces had gotten very dull with age and the polishing was not a permanent solution.

Thumbs up

you can tell this body shop knows what hey are doing given the fact they removed EVERYTHING they could to paint seperate, and the headlights, etc opposed to taping them off.
