The tranny was the main concern of mine. I want to keep it auto of course, but I don't want to garnade it either. What could I do, or how much power should I be looking at to be safe?

Im also open to alternate routes and open to ster away from forced induction, but still be able to gain a significant amount of power.

forced induction is the only way. the tranny can take up to 700whp, just not in-between shifts Search on clubna-t or my.is, and jefftsai's threads on here and you'll see how auto trannies are built.

however i do have to say that if you're going to beat the crap out of the car, a toyota auto tranny is not going to last long; you're going to need a chevy or powerglide.
