Dremel is not as smooth and makes sharp edges. Plus a Hi rpm spinning rotary disk is more dangerous then a large flat belt. It's easier to control and hold, and less prone to getting out of your hands and hitting the painted fender surface. I've seen people make these mistakes, but of course they tend not to post what happened.

The belt sander will create a smooth edge that's probably smoother then your OEM edge. Use 60 to 80 grit to cut followed by 100 to 200 grit to get it smooth.

i got my fenders rolled front and rear. fronts are already sortof rolled from factory so they got rolled a bit more, and the rears got rolled about 1/2 flat. i got very slight dimples both sides but not very obvious unless its the perfect angle & light condition so im not bothered.

certainly shaving is better though, had i shaved up back i couldve got more offset, and especially up front as i still scrub on lock with 9" +27 235/35/19 and theyre pretty sunk.

i didnt shave though because it is illegal here due to it weakening the panel & there isnt really any way to undo it if i was to get defected for it :/

Im still lsot on this subject. When you roll the fenders out, your basically bending them furhter out correct? So that the tires dont rub against the fender lip?

Shaving involved taking the whole lip off? So then whenyou roll or cut the fender, how do you keep the lining on?

the rear doesnt have fender liners, the front you take them out. if your running aggressive wheels like this theyd be scrubbing them anyway. I left the front section of the liner each side and removed the top 2/3 or so above and behind the wheel

dude u dont want to roll them out. you could really pop your tires. i ran 295/35/18 and my fender was eating my tire walls so i took off my wheel and grabbed a rubber hammer. and a screw driver. juss take out that plastic think and start hitting the fender up words . the bottom of where the plastic think will start cracking thats it. ill get some pics tommorow if im not in juvey.(high speed chase)

Do yourself a favor and don't use the method described above.

That's a good way to get a wavy quarter panel/fender. Banging on it with a "rubber hammer" (proper term would be a mallet) will not give you an even roll or very precise force application. There is a reason all of the reputable long term members do their fenders the same way, and that's shaving them.

You will never be able to roll a fender as flush as you can shave it and if you even get close your quarter panel will start deforming as it's not an even curve going around the inside of the fender well.

But for real, on a seperate note......that's AWESOME you were in a high speed chase!!! Did you manage to destroy anyone else's property, lives or vehicles in the process? That would have been even cooler!!! I'm so glad that my tax dollars go to paying the police force to chase foolish (using that word to be polite) people around!!!! AWESOME!!!!!

update, i talked to the shop and i am going in again and talk to them to see what they are going to do to "make it all better". ps when you roll it they can crack the paint as in my case. and yes they did heat the fender prior to any work being done on them. so wish me luck and hope they fix it and paint it.
