Default HELP!!!!Problem with rims

Hello everyone I have a problem my rims arrived yesterday and went to have them check to make sure everything was Ok. the back rims fit perfect. they are 19.5 but the front ones ended up just rubbing on my calipers. I'm running 19.8.5 what can I do beside sending them back. they are Stern ST2's. has anyone run spacer and would you recommend them or should I just return them and see how much grieve this seller is going to give me. feel like a kid with no candy. lol.

run a hub centric'd spacer. basically how much room u have between the rim and the fender? if u want to run a spacer (not spacer adapter), and dont want to press new studs in to run a fairly large spacer, then dont go above a 5mm spacer.

the shop i use to work at would carry plenty of 3mm universal spacers around all the time, because you cant really determine if the wheel will clear the caliper or not unless u test fit, or just know from past experience. no amount of information in the books can tell u if they clear te caliper. the spoke design is truly the only thing they dont account for in wheel design.

only sure way to know if it will clear the caliper are wheels that have designated "lip" size, thus to get at the desired offset, the hub itself is made thicker, so then the spokes are for sure farther away from the caliper

So I should get a hub centric spacer and this will solve my problem. I hear a lot of bad things on adapters and that what I really don't want to be doing is get more problems. I had a feeling it could have been the offset was to mild. I might be wrong.
Oh does anybody know where I can purchase the hub centric spacer's and are they safe?

Thanks guys

go to any local, or online H&R dealer.

H&R also makes hub centric'd spacer adapters as well. but all you need is the regular spacers.

good luck!

Default I've been running spacers on my BMW for 4 years without any problems at all. If....

....you do the geometry, 5mm spacers introduce very little additional stress on the suspension, keeping the original pivot point and moving the reciprocating mass (the wheel and tire) out a little farther. You'll have slightly more sensitivity to imbalance on the wheel/tire, but you'll get them road-force balanced anyway, so this won't be a problem. With the new wheel gently mounted and touching the caliper, measure how much room there is between the wheel/tire face (the plane formed if you put a flat surface, like a big piece of cardboard over the wheel) and the inner lip of the fender. Stock has more than a thumb's width and you probably will too. You could run 3mm, 5mm, 10mm and maybe even 15mm spacers to move the wheel away from the caliper. Given your question, I'd go as small as necessary to clear the caliper. Remember, under braking there may be some deflection of the caliper assembly, so don't leave a hair's clearance - if the 3mm ones aren't enough, go to the next size.

Good luck

Thanks just called H&R they just told me to do a check with some washers to check how much of a spacer I need. I tried a local Rim shop and they have the spacers for around 15 bucks a peace. I will post some pictures up as soon as I have this installed. Thanks again for the help. oh do you know if I would have to extend the studs?
