How to fix your trunk from falling down and banging your head, for free!!
#16
This is good info,
but just FYI, the price quoted above is somewhat inflated.
It's only $40 from parts.com (~$10shipping, but you can bundle other stuff you might need).
For $80 you might want to do this DIY,
But at $40, some might just want to replace instead.

Aftermarket will always be cheaper and priced all over the place so no need to bother with that , besides i am not selling the bars just giving free advise of a fix.
Glad i am special again so i can ride the short bus.
It will open the trunk as much as you want it to by moving the bars further back as needed to add tension. I used the factory holes for symetry but woudl have moved then further back as needed , which i probably will have to do once i get my vertex spoiler.
To all those who tried it and it worked perfect congrates and glad to help.

Uh, parts.com is OEM toyota parts, and no extra shipping for this item over the standard charges (I ordered last year). Just letting people know it's not $80, don't get so worked up. I'm giving free advice too.

OK, I just did mine. Only take like 10min, but the trunk only goes up to like around 8.5inches. Does it goes all the way up? Mine have a tail so I don't know if that's the problem.

I though they go all the way up. I don't think mine has the falling problem when you lift it all the way up. Oh well at least it lifted 8 inches instead of zero before the mod lol.

If you want it to open moer then drill some holes further to the rear of the car for the rods to hold onto.
You can get it to open all the way with a spoiler as well.
