yeah mine is completely dynamatted and it just pops open...wont lift at all. its so heavy now lol

The further back you pull the arm the more tension it has . So it will lift it as much as you want wether you have a heavier spoiler or dynamatted trunk it will work as you are dialing in the tension to specs.

so by further back you mean i need to drill the hole lower to have more tension?

Glad it worked.

Further back means just that , further back in the car not further down to drill the holes.
The further back or closer to the rear of the car such as its back bumper it will add mroe tension.

Sk, great mod. Free fixes are the best fixes. A trick that I learned from the IS guys, is if you take just a liiiiiiiitttttttlllle tire shine and lightly dress the trunk seal, it makes the trunk just pop up a lot easier. Especially after readjusting the rods. Thanks again.
