Default Cataract Surgery Complete...

After receiving all my packages within in the last week, I decided to tackle the process of removing the "cataract" from my GS. By cataracts I mean replacing my 10+ year old original housings with brand spanking new 01+ housings. At the same time, I decided to upgrade my highs with 4300K HID's from Cliffud and 27 SMT LED's for my city lights from VLED's. The process of removing and swapping all the parts over went rather smooth with the only real hiccup coming from the driver's side installation. The process of taking off the front bumper was indeed a pain in the *** and I have the cuts and bruises on my hands to prove it. I have yet to drive my car at night other than the short romp around my neighborhood after the installation was complete.

I was planning on doing a 3000k HID upgrade for the fogs, but in the process of completing it, I came to the conclusion that I need new ones. My passenger side fog was being held on by the grace of God and the driver side yellow light "condom" was shattered somehow. So, now I'm just waiting on the fogs to arrive before tackling that task.

Anyhow... On with the Pics!

Since you have it off... would you consider doing ls430 retro?

Does your old headlight have auto leveling? Even though it's old, I bet someone would buy them. Classified section it should go I need something cheap to practice my retro skillz or lack thereof, on.

I don't think anyone here isn't all that surprised that the driver side installation was not as smooth as you said. Just changing the wedge bulb on that side can be a PITA. The results do look good

awesome man!! before clicking the link, I thought you actually had some cataract surgery done on your eyeballs! lol.

pics turned out great! I had a chance to drive in front of another GS outfitted with mobilehid lows and fogs like yours and on the highway, it's impressively bright.

great job!

NP. I bought them from Carson for $559 shipped for the pair. Much cheaper than buying the entire assembly for $1400. All you have to do is transfer all your existing stuff over to your new housings.

They do have the Auto-Level, but I had to use the module for it on my new housings. They should be in the classifieds this weekend. I want to clean them up before I take pics and post as they are DISGUSTING. I was considering buying them and sending them off to have the Q45/430 retro done, but I figured that spending nearly a grand on lighting is enough for right now. If I end up keeping the car beyond the end of this year, it's POSSIBLE I'll consider it.

I'll PM you when they are up... I don't really see myself asking too much for them...

I'm not sure what you did in your pictures, but if you just wet sanded them down, don't worry... The hazing will be back. I could say that I wet-sanded my housings 4-5 times last year with the oxidation returning worse the time before. I just got fed up with not being able to see at night and just ate the bullet and fixed them the right way...
