AirBag Lite on, Wiring Harness Short?

AirBag Lite on, Wiring Harness Short?
The airbag light came on on my GS300 2001. The light stays on and blinks. My wife took it in to our trusted mechanic and after a day or so came up with the following codes;
B0112 - short in side squib RH circuit ground
B0117 - LH circuit ground
B1162 - Short in RH curtain squib circuit ground
B1172 - Short in LH curtain squib circuit ground
Mechanic says all points to shorted wiring harness. Many dollars to swap out harness. The question is; How likely is this condition caused by a wiring harness problem and Anyone ever see this problem before?
The car is in very good condition with 120k miles on it.
