Hi Och, I own a 2000 ES300 and have been looking for a solution to that problem for a while now - light bulbs behind TAPE, CD, MD, and BASS are out. Great source on the bulbs. Question - did you re-attach/wind the wires around the square base or did you simply solder the bulb directly to the circuit board? I have never soldered anything that small, any advice you have in regard to procedure, temperature, solder, etc? The more detail the better, would be a great help to me!

The "disk, tape" and other buttons I believe are Toyota bulbs, they don't need to be soldered. Only the LCD screen bulbs require soldering.

The general green, blue, and LCD display illumination bulbs in the climate control do NOT have to be soldered. There are 4 brown base brown base screw in bulbs for the backlight (part # 90010-03001), 2 black base bulbs for the LCD (part # 90010-03002). They can be ordered from lexuspartsnow.com, for example, run about $2.30/piece plus around $8 shipping.

The bulbs that illuminate individual buttons that shine really brite do have to be soldered. The radio buttons also have to be soldered, here are some sources for these lightbulbs:

http://www.mcmelectronics.com/produc...4LH-T1-/25-995

6mm lenght but seem to have worked for others.

http://home.earthlink.net/~dwojo/index.html

4.2mm, seemed to work as well. Just ordered from Dave, waiting on the bulbs.

I own a 2000 ES300, I don't think my model comes with a navigation unit, so I don't know about those blulbs.

Received the bulbs today. For my 2000 ES300 stereo I need the bulbs from MCM Eletronics since they have a 3mm diameter. The 4.2mm bulbs are 2 long for the lower sockets and the green sleeve will not fit. Soldered the 3mm bulb in today, worked out great so far.

confused.... if the 4.2mm are too long, arent the 6mm ones from MCM 6 too long also ?

and you are talking about the bulbs on your radio, like for tape, CD, FM.. etc ?

Clarification - the 4.2 mm is the diameter of the bulbs. They are about 8 mm long. They are too wide to fit inot the square socket and they do not fit into the hole of the removed backplate. The green sleeves do not fit as well. The MCM bulbs are 3 mm diameter, fit into the square socket, and will fit the sleeves as well. http://home.earthlink.net/~dwojo/index.html has the MCM bulbs as well, shipping is cheaper.
