Default HELP: installing a 3rd brake light in a non-factory equipped car

I found the harness to plug into laying under the rear deckboard, which is very cool. Does the light assembly clip into the rear deckboard? Anyone have a picture of these holes? I don't see anything prestamped that would pop out to mount this.

I thought the rear decklid for cars that came from the factory without a wing are different than those that came with a wing. You might have to fabricate some type of mount if you don't want to swap decklids

yeah i am pretty sure you need to get a different parcel shelf which allows the light to mount through it.

There are definitely two different factory parts for the decklids - I swapped from the one WITH the third brakelight to one WITHOUT.

The without version came with those GS with a factory rear spoiler that had the integrated third brake light on it.

I tried to cover the third brake cutout with cloth and didn't look good, so I replaced the whole thing. Veritek may still have that 'with' rear deck if you want to buy one but not sure what the color of your interior is

Frank, if you're up for something interesting I'd recommend looking at doing this as a cool mod and putting it up top. I was thinking of doing that to my GS before I sold it after I replaced the OEM spoiler (bought a WIN spoiler w/o brake light but never put it on). Let me find a link

Here they are - Gammalex had done this with an LED strip across the top of the back which I thought looked very cool (and since I bought parts of his bodykit I could see how it would look on mine )

Another alternative is to imbed like a couple of members have done with a Supra 3rd light, but would be more $$$. Got to run or I'd search up some links for you. While I was searching I found this link which should be helpful for you https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ay-or-nay.html

that top strip is a very neat idea- i had to do a 3rd brake light on mine as i took the rear wing off but ALL 2GS delivered to Australia had the spoiler and so i couldnt get a no brake light deck or even a brake light. So i bought a generic one and stuck it the rear window. it looks okay, but not as neat as that one. Its easy to do though, just stick it to the window with double sided tape over some black vinyl (so it has a black outline), then run wires along headliner, down behind side trim, into boot and splice into left over plug from spoiler brake light
