Where did you ground your amp to in the trunk? or is it a good idea to run a wire off the negative terminal on the battery as a ground?

just mount it to your chassis somewhere. sand off a section of the car and bolt the ground to it.

I agree with krazyGs3. I've got mine mounted about 3-4 inches away from the subwoofer port. Sand down the paint and grab a pointed screw to drill through the metal with the ground wire terminal and you'll be fine.

You always want to keep your ground wire as short as possible

if you run a long negative wire you will run the high chance of getting engine noise. like the others have said, find a spot close to the amplifers location to ground it.

Depending where you mount the amp a good place is on the frame rail on either side of the car in the back. It will be under the trunk "tray" and should be pretty obvious. It provides a thicker material than just sheet metal. Another place is all the way in the front of the trunk, near the back seat.

Just be careful that there isn't anything on the other side of where you drill and use a short screw with a large head so it makes good contact with the ground terminal. It also helps to use a larger diameter screw. Generally I would drill a small hole and then thread (using hand tools, not a drill etc...) a larger diameter screw until it was just past snug. Since the metal is relatively thin you have to be careful to not over tighten the bolt as it's easy to "strip" the sheet metal.

Theres these 10mm bolts that hold in the cargo hooks (like clip thingys). I just sanded in hat spot and putthe ground between the bolt and the chasis.

You will see the frame rails under the trunk mat/cover pull it all out, they are solid rails. Use those but make sure to sand it down big time to get a solid connection, ground is just important as power lead. Thats what I used for my 1/0 gauge ground.

x2 for sure...mine are never more than 3-4" and are a dedicated ground all by themselves the way it should be. It's never that hard to find a ground but definitely clean it until the metal shines like a new nickel!

This is the best and most convenient way of grounding your amp in a 2GS.
