I have to change out my bank 2 (cyl 4,5,6,) pre-cat o2 sensor. I havent tired yet but it looks like a real pain to get to. For anyone that has changed it did you use a special wench (shorty) to get it out? I'm hoping i dont have to take alot of stuff off to get to it. Any suggestions prior to starting?
Thanks

i'm not the best mechanic, but can take apart suspension parts and do simple things. i had a downstream O2 sensor go bad and here's what I did...

It's not an insanely complicated procedure, but seeing you're from MD where it snows, heat it up (if you don't have a torch, run the engine a bit) and spray PB blaster a day before you work on it. The salt and the corrosion eats those bolts alive.
I broke the stupid O2 sensor removal tool bc of the corrosion. I took it to a shop I trust (I highly recommend Becker Exhaust in Greenwood if you are in Indiana. I would go even as far to say they treat customers as well, if not are more concerned about us, as the dealership by explaining everything to you in detail, show you whats up, and even send a thank you card). They have more know-how than me and got it off and replaced it within like 20mins (at a very reasonable price).
There are several resourceful threads. Do your research, and do it right the first time. Good luck!

Sorry for the late bump. I am going to try to change my Bank 2 Sensor 1 (before the cat). If I buy the liquid GUNK to soften the bolt and the O2 sensor removal socket, will I still fail? I really dont want to fail, but it sounds inevitable?
Please Help me.

I just changed my o2 sensor on bank 2 (sensor 2). It was seized despite soaking it in PB Blaster a few hours prior to remove the sensor, and the proper o2 sensor socket. The bung ripped out leaving me a hole, and thus I had a lexus that was very loud, until I could get it to a exhaust place to get it welded. Other than that, the job took about 30 mins. I would suggest if you are not comfortable with it, just have a trusted mechanic do it.

If it strips, it will get more expensive.
