This has been discussed several times before, but I don't think anyone ever came up with a definate answer. I suggest you use the search function if you want to see the previous discussions.

I think it's actually Grand Sport sedan, after all the GS is classified as a luxury Sport Sedan.

The "S" probably stands for Sedan, since it can't be for Sport, since the other models share the same letter. And the ES300 is definitely not a sporty car!

Maybe it doesn't stand for anything at all and it's all part of the grander scheme relating to the alphabet. Maybe it's some code or pattern we are missing as indicated below!

We need a code breaker!

Right, actually what the dealer told me was that Lexus Japan told them they really don't stand for anything so that the customer can make it mean whatever they like That makes sense from a marketing point of view, why lose customers that don't like the idea of having a "Grand Sedan" when they can make it mean whatever they like.

Ahhhhhhh the secret revealed! Thanks!

However if you noticed too, dealers really don't know jack ******.

The people on this forum are the real experts. I'm really surprised at how little knowledge these dealers have and if they ever heard of the INTERNET! Maybe most of them are old style and not with the times or simply making too much money to even care.

Yeah, I posted something yesterday on that in the https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=43463 thread. I was talking to a dealer a couple of days ago asking questions about future models and he told me that he had no idea and that the customers usually know more about whats going on than the salesman:eek:
