So, GTAUOSPORTS is really slow huh? Still $215 for one grille should give us some idea of a possible price with a group buy.....

Default RMM grill not perfect

About four months ago I went down to RMM in Huntington Beach and picked up a grill I had order (painted) from Craig, for a gs430.

Out of the box it looked great. My grill came with screws to mount the wire mesh to the grill. After installing and cutting the wire mesh to fit the grill, it was time to replace my ome grill with my new one. There were only 5 nuts holding the ome grill to the hood, two minute job.

The first problem I encounter was the grill did not fit the hood opening there were gaps on the top and sides. Secondly, the attachment holes on the grill did not match up with the attaching holes on the hood. The final problem was that my ome grill had body screws that clipped on to the grill and pasted thru the hood and were held on by nuts. The RMM grill has threads on the grill and required a screw that goes thru the hood and attaches to the RMM grill. (Not provided).

Took the rmm grill back to Craig and showed him the problem. He agreed that it was a bad fit and returned my money, without problems. Craig thought that lexus may have changed the grill size and mounting setup on the 2001 gs.

After all this, what I'm trying to say is that for any of you guys that are going to do the group buy check and make sure that the rmm grill fits the opening on the hood and that the mounting screws needed to secure the rmm grill are the same as your ome grill before attaching the wire mesh to the rmm grill. I would also recommend that anyone with 2001 or newer gs ask Craig if RMM as modified their grill to fit the 2001 and 2002 gs.

I live near Huntington Beach so it was easy for me to resolve my issue with rmm. I would have hated to do it by mail.

strshooter, the oem grills for the gs's will interchange no matter what year. I put a 2002 grill on my 99 , fit no problemo.

Jpmotdyn:

I was only relaying my experience with the rmm grill for those thinking about buying. I know that there are many cl members who have purchased one and love them and had no problems with the fit.

Because of my experience with their product, I'm shelling out $569.00 for a LT grill.

By the way, when you interchanged your oem 02 and your 98 grill did the factory mounting bolts attach to the grill and pass thru the mounting holes on the hood or were the oem grills threaded to accept a bolt. The rmm grill was threaded to accept a bolt.

The OEM grills have bolts on them already allowing you to just remove the 6 or 7 10 mm nuts and pull the grill off and put the new one on. The mountiing is exactly the same form 98-02.

Let's buy it already. i whould pay no more than $200.00 shipped.
Question: Is it going to be shipped as one piece or I will have to assamble and cut some kind of mesh?

They are going to make this batch JUST FOR US. Rmm has a 3-4 week lead time in producing these polyurethane grills. I will ask if we can get the mesh mounted on for us. It would be pretty much pointless concidering we have to take them off to get painted. Anyone want prices already painted? What are you color codes.

The day we place the order, its exactly 3 weeks. I will pick them up in long beach. package them and ship out.

Lets see a show of hands.....who was all talk
