Default 2001 GS300, dont know if its been tuned up ever..where to start

Hello, newbie here with a very nice 01 GS. I found the service record for this vehicle and it appears that no maintenance has been done. Its 80k miles now, what are the most important things to get done at this stage and can I avoid the dealer? (worried about a $1500 tuneup bill). Thanks - Dean

No maintenance!!!! You should of avoided this car like cancer. If this car has not been maintained then it will be a money pit for you. Oh well. If your worried about a 1500 dollar tune up then this car is NOT for you. 90k service on my old gs 400 cost me 800.00 and that was at a Toyota dealer. Go ahead and do everything tranny flush, plugs, diff, change oil, pcv, everything.

you can do most the small maintenance by yourself and by following a few DIY's on here like (Engine/Tranny oil 50-60$'s, brake pads 90$, sparkplugs 9-11$ a piece depending on brand, rad fluid 40$?, throttle cable adjustments free!)

Just because Lexus doesn't have any service records doesn't mean that they previous owner didn't take it to their mechanic or they could have been a mechanic themselves or even a DIYer.

Yea I mean if it runs good isnt leaking any fluids no overheating etc. It has to have been serviced at some point. But IMO for piece of mind just do everything now! Tranny service, oil change, spark plugs, pcv valve, air filter, belts and hoses, diff service!! And your nearing the 90k mark for timing belt and water pump! Just knock it all out, Its better to be safe than sorry! Again like everybody else says you can do most of the work yourself!! Theres tons of DIY sticky's on the forum!!!!

If you can bring it into a Lexus dealership when they have a promotion for a free XX point inspection. If not bring it into a independent dealer. Search the forums for a respectable shop in your area.
