My newly acquired '98 GS400
Greetings all -
Acurazine refugee here, introducing myself to clublexus on the advice of the board members there. Having sold my TSX recently, I bought my pop's 1998 GS400 from him at a nice family rate.
Serious cream-puff this one. It was bought new in Alabama then transported to NorCal in 2000 and tootled around town by his wife ever since. 67K miles, not a scratch on it, interior perfect, well optioned. It was lightly binged in the rear bumper back in '99 which necessitated some minor body work, otherwise no skeletons in the closet at all.
So.....now that its mine, the freshening up starts. It gets a full timing belt/water pump/spark plug service on Friday, followed up by new lower front ball joints and KYB GR2's next week. I'll also have the trans fluid replaced and an oil change to synthetic. I replaced the air filter and a couple bulbs last week. The steering column squeals something fierce getting in and out of the car (let's just call it "character"), not sure if I'll ever be able to sort that out.
My pops had some Borla mufflers installed a while back, which sounded great, but droned too much for my liking so they've been replaced by Dynapacks. Much better.
Some pics below, happy to be a Lexus owner!

a gs400 with those kinda miles is a true needle in the haystack. Good thing it was already in your family cuz you would have never found one with those miles anywhere. I just bought a 98gs400 a month ago and love it. I would update the NAVI before you do anything.

Welcome to CL, looks like a clean car and it's always good to know it's history!
Here's a DIY for the squeaking steering column, might be worth a shot. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-solution.html
