Oil Leak after oil change 98 GS400
Guys...I just did an oil change last sunday on my 98GS400 and now it is leaking oil as i can tell by spots on my driveway...I checked the filter and drain plug to make sure everything is tight...No leaks there...I did noticed the one of the bushings on the front left hand side kinda wet!! what could it be?

Hmm its pretty hard to say? I would of looked at the drain plug washer. Maybe replace that first? But its possible its the oil pan gasket! That should be a simple fix. Best way to tell is throw her on stands completely clean the area with a towel, And run her for a few minutes shut it down, And crawl back under the car to pinpoint the leak. If its a moderate leak it should be seeping out from somewhere pretty quick!!

They should sell a brand new drain plug and washer together. As far as the pan gasket im not sure if they have one, But if not then just use some red silicone RTV sealant!! I know you can get the drain plug and washer, But I would call around on the pan gasket!!

I'd recommend not using RTV, but if you go to Lexus/Toyota and very nice and courteous, they will give you a crush washer. If you really are smart, you'd ask the lube or service techs as they do not care as much as the managers, service writers, and parts guys since they don't get paid commission or worry about inventory. Anyways, it never hurts to ask. I actually have 2 bags of them, I'll sell 20 crush washers for $5 bucks or so, not including shipping, which would be a posted stamp. PM me if your interested.

RTV Sealant should be just fine...As long as you apply it correctly and apply proper torque to each bolt. Again I'd prefer an actual rubber gasket anyday "If Its Available" Im Just givin the guy some options!! Havent needed to replace my oil pan gaskets, But Ive done plenty jobs on leaks from oil pans, and transmission pans etc. to know whats necessary! Either way hopefully it is just leftover oil that may have spilled out!!
Good Luck with her!
