Default Keys in the trunk

So A few years ago I lost one of the master keys to my 2000 GS300, now I've locked my only key in the trunk and the Locksmith is quoting $500.00 to retrieve them, my question is: If I remove the rear seat would i have access to the trunk or is there another panel that will prevent me from it? any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Yes you will be able to access the trunk by removing the rear seats. You just have to get through the carpet trunk interior attached against the cross bar where the rear seat meets the trunk. I do believe you would just have to remove a few staples so that you could reach through the inner trunk liner.

You can also use the spare to open the passenger side door, and open the trunk door from there as well. This has happened to me many of times lol... Sun roof + a very long stick = long and tedious job LMAO

Well if his doors are also locked, he wouldn't even need to consider taking apart the back seats.

Would replacing a rear window be cheaper then $500? If so break into your own car

why don't you bring some proof of ownership to a dealer and get another mAster key blade cut?

with the new key, you should be able to turn the lock and open the trunk.

I hope you can still get into your car...

i'm sure trunk is locked so that only the key works. I valet a lot and have an expensive system in my trunk so I always keep it locked. I'm sure he would have tried the trunk release.

If you havent taken the rear seats out, the bottom cushisons just lift right out with a little force. Then the backing cushion is held on by 5 bolts i beleive. 2 behind the head rest and 3 by the seat belts. Good lucK!

I just hope that there are no solid panels in there, otherwise it looks pretty easy and I get to save some $

Goodluck on taking your car apart to get to the keys... Since you only have 1 key, shouldn't you consider to make a spare anyway? Might as well make the extra key now so you can retrieve your original and have the spare to put away just in-case anything may happen in the future.
