Default SRT GS430 vs. WR GS430

Hey guys,

Finally I had a chance to race with my friend's car, he has the SRT intake in his car, and I just swap the intake from SRT to WR. I want to know the differents between the two.

We both has the same setup like torque converter and LSD, the different between both car are the wheels. I have a set of 19" wheels and lower it, and he has the 17" stock wheels.

Well, time for the race, we start of at the same time, both car spin the wheel for a sencond and took off, for the few second both car were even, then I notice his car starting pulling little by little, and I can't do a damn thing about it. At that time I know the race was over. Anyway it was fun, maybe I will try to race with he again when I get the ECU from WR.

I did dyno my car with SRT intake, I am going to dyno my car again today with WR intake, I will let you guys know the result.

I noticed in your so-cal. Can I go watch? I'd like to post the official results in ClubLexus (we are making a page for "official" dyno sheets with video and pics)

What make and model 19s are you running?
Any ides of thier weights?
TRD or RMM (Toyo) LSD?

Everything else seems toe to toe. Seems the only meaninful variables causing a gap of performance, would be:

- the wheels
- piggyback ecu

Anyone else concur with my comments?

Edit:
BTW, thanks GWU for posting some really good info; its much appreciated; this seems about as close to a real-world even matchup as we've got so far

I agree with Dex, the only difference between the both of you are the wheels and ECU. Next time you race put your stock 17's back on and plug in the WR ECU. Also make sure you both cars have the same amount gas in them. Then it would be an even race.

Ok, here are the result from my dyno at SP Engineering.

Mar. 25 2002 with SRT/ecu

run #1 Max Power = 252.9 Max Torque = 250.1
run #2 Max Power = 252.9 Max Torque = 250.2
run #3 Max Power = 253.0 Max Torque = 248.4

Apr. 03 2002 with WR no ecu

run #1 Max Power = 241.4 Max Torque = 240.9
run #2 Max Power = 240.3 Max Torque = 237.0
run #3 Max Power = 243.1 Max Torque = 233.2

I still waiting for the ECU from WR, I talk to them yesterday and they still don't have ECU for GS430.

I think it'll be pretty close once the W/R ECU gets plugged in - what is W/R claiming from their ECU for the GS430 intake and ECU combo?

Here are the straight up differences for those keeping score at home. Nothing fancy; simple math; I took GWUs numbers and plugged them into a simple excel file.

Edit:
Here is it more clearly laid out....

Don't throw up a Smoke Screen..

There is a Difference...
SRT had a ECU which Advanced the Ignition Timing up.
SRT Also had a Intake.

From what i see, Weapon*R has only An Intake..

That's 1 leg up..
Also the car with the WR Intake on had 19's which takes up alot of rotational Mass, which takes power to turn them puppies..

my 2 cents..

so we're looking at a 10RWHP and 10RWTQ gain overall.... best runs im talkin here.... u could do a dyno at 50% throttle then 100% throttle and say u got huge gains, so im gonan take the two best

well SRT advertised 30HP and 40TQ....

assuming the Weapon*R intake gave only 6RWHP they are still low.... we'll see when the ECU is out and ready what the scores are

finally some numbers.

Dude, we already said that - no one is throwing up smoke....

GWU128,

Are you using the stock or an aftermarket exhaust?

Also does anyone know what THE dyno numbers are for a completely stock GS430?

Don't forget to dyno the stock on those same cars if we want to see the REAL baseline and delta numbers.

My two cents: the intake pipes on both cars will yield approx the same HP gain since they are the same basic design. The product power difference will lie in the ECU only. THANK YOU for testing this!

did the other car have L-tuned exhaust?
and can you PLEASE put the 17s back on if the other car has exhaust, and if it doesn't, leave the 19s on. --to even it out more-

you da man!

Is THE show down for a 430, or a 400?

Also, is this to determine MAX GAINs or MAX HP & TQ?

OR, all the above?

What will be the exact criteria for determining the better product?

Fit and finsih?
Criteria above?
Customer service?
Sound level?
Cost / Price?
Cost per HP & TQ?
Appearance?

Persoanlly, I really don't care, I just want there to be some definitive criteria judged, so personal issues don't cloud the already muddy water.
