GS300-> GS400 Navigation Upgrade/Ipod Interface

GS300-> GS400 Navigation Upgrade/Ipod Interface
Hey guys. New to the GS section. My brother has a GS300 99 model, and I was wondering if an ipod interface kit (for ex. Vais Technology) could be installed? 
If not, any ideas if an 05 GS400 navigation can be replaced to the outdated 99 GS300 navigation to make the ipod interface work?
Lastly are there any significant differences from the old navigation to the 05 navigation upgrade if I continue with this project?
In the end, we want to have ipod integration. Some help would be nice.
