Paint Code for 99 Silver GS300
#2
It's #199 but just to make sure, check the bottom panel to the left of your drivers seat where the door closes. It's got a paint code there which 99.9% is #199.
I just got a paint job on my ENTIRE bottom panel including all panels and bumper/hood (under warranty woohoo) and that's the paint code I used.
I too have a 99 GS300 silver

Hiya
Actually, it wasn't an excuse- in fact, the dealer suggested it. (They like me there and they're really great).
My panels are *ALL* Fading. (Known lexus problem with white cars and first time (from their end) on a silver car).
My Story
My car is a 99 GS300 Silver #199 with only 14K miles on it. It never got driven (3rd car). One day I had a scratch on my lower rear quarter panel that I wanted to replace ($50.00 at the dealer and it came painted) and when I went to go pick up the part and tried to mount it on, it was way way off in color and even the Lexus body shop was all confused as to why. My sides and rear had never been in an accident (front bumper and hood yes due to a lil fender bender I just had all my parts replaced and repainted).
Anyway, they were shocked to see how the paint was so off and so we took the car outside and sure enough my entire bottom part of my car (everything beneath the chrome) was all faded gray . To take care of me, they just offered to paint it under warranty , gave me a rental, took it to a body shop, and had it painted and lifetime warrantied UNDER Lexus. I'm a happy camper now because if I do sell the car in the future and they don't like it because it's been repainted, all I have to do is show my lexus warrantied and certfied certificate to the buyer ensuring no acccident (except for bumper and hood - of course front buper is now warrantied as well because they painted it also)
All legit, all honest. I love lexus service

may i ask which dealer this is??
also, I had entire side of my car repainted too due to some chips, and not accident, If I do sell the car later, how can I prove that it's not due to an accident??

You may have a prob in your scenario. Since your car is CPO, you may have a prob because CPO rules state that paint fading is part of wear and tear. Plus, your mileage...... My mileage was enough to show that the car was barely driven and always garaged therefore fading was due to paint defect and not sun (well, at least that's what they said).
If you need an excuse, just say you're looking to buy a JDM body kit (the skirts come painted to factory spec) and ask them if there's a direct factory match. They'll say yes and then ask them to make sure again because you've heard of paint fading. Then ask to compare the paint with any pre-painted lexus part (any quarter panel onsite) and you can tell whether or not your car paint has faded.
Regarding your case, since you painted one whole side rather than all around, I dunno what kind of proof you can give to a future buyer other than carfax perhaps? or make sure that you get a computerized history statement that your car was inspected by a lexus tech in a lexus dealer and that the car never got into an accident which required the paint rather the paint was done by you in a lexus dealer sponsored body shop due to chips.
I'll PM you the car dealership I use
