Default What's the best air intake?

Hello,
I'm new to the forum and I've had my 99 GS for about a year. I'm jus starting to do some serious mods to it and wondering how people feel about different air intakes. I currently have a K&N high performance air filter but I want to move away from that to something a bit more aggressive. A guy at a local shop told me that I should get a Weapon R intake system either the Secret Weapon or the Dragon Intake. I have also heard much talk about the SRT intake [a lil pricy] and one from Injen. Anyone have experience with these? Who's the best?

Check the performance section. There is a post about this subject. The SRT has a ECU piggy back that gives it a lead over the others.

Welcome, do you have a 300 or 400? I'm guessing 300 from the number of options you're looking at but it would be easier to help if you give us more info. The SRT has a ECU to modify air/fuel ratio to get better performance, not sure if you'd get that with any of the others. Are you planning any other performance mods in the future? This may affect your decision as well.

I have the GS 300. I know about the SRT air module chip, i guess my main concern is it really worth it because I dont want to spend $500+ on an intake when I could get the same or similar performance from another less expensive system. I plan on upgrading the exhaust from the headers back, eventually changing the pulleys etc. and maybe one day down the road putting a turbo and a chip in it. Trying to get as close to 500 HP as possible

intake is a serious mod and what is a Dragon Intake LOL

try using the search function. I heard it sometimes magically shoots out answers by typing in keywords.

I also heard that SearchFunction makes a mean intake. Exhausts and wheel sizing guides too!

I've looked into an intake and the only REAL gain will come from the SRT. The piggyback ECU will significantly show you performance gains.

If I'm not mistaken they have them on sale right now and you coudl probably talk them(Swift Racing) into installing it for little to nothing.
