Cool Replacement wire mesh for TRD Grill

Does anyone know where online can I purchase wire mesh/screen? I have a TRD grill but the one that comes with has large opening therefore allowing people to see the engine, radiator and other unsightly parts. I like the one that are used on the RMM grills that has a hexagon shape to it. Living on Guam my selection are very limited to a few designs. I wonder if someone has replaced their TRD grill's mesh/screen and has some extra left over that they would like to sell to me (enough to cover the TRD grill). Or if anyone who is thinking about replacing their aftermarket grill with a denser hole mesh/screen I would like to split the cost on purchase. I know they sell in a large sheet that need to be cut down.

http://www.5thgenmaximas.com/meshguard.html

This is a good link showing the details for a DIY I was contemplating, but changed my mind, and went with the RMM G/B.

Looks pretty straight forward, and supplies should be easy to accquire.

DaveGS4 found it, and showed it to me.

Cool

Hi Dex:

Thanks for the link but my problem is not how to do it but accquiring the mesh screen itself. Picking is very limited in Guam.

Anyone out there want make a few buck and help a fellow CL member by going to Home Depot or local hadware store and purchase a small replacement mesh screen like the one on the RMM grill? One with a hexagon shape openings.

Hmmm - I'd help you out for sure, but finding that mesh in the hexagon shape openings might be difficult. I remember Globe mentioning he found some at his local HW store, but I didn't find *any* I cared for online, let alone a local HW store, but I bet he has more resources at his disposal in Cali.

Your best best is to dig around online looking for speed shops and the like. NOPI had some online, but I couldn't see it in good enough detail what the openings looked like, and their email reply to a request for a better, higher resolution detail pic was, poor, to say the least.

Try Craig at rmm, I was told they sell the wire mesh seperately.
And your right, theirs is the BEST.

Good luck

Thumbs up

I found these at the McMaster website.

1/2" aluminum cell honeycomb might be pretty cool.

Raw Materials and Springs / Honeycomb Panels and Composite section.

EDIT: also, if you do a search for "mesh" they have several differnt types - Excellent find Kaj

Thanks guys.

I decided to give Rod Millen a call and they wanted $45 plus shipping for the mesh only. Yikes!!! I will spend a little more time searching on the web to see if I can get a better pricing. If not I will probably have to purchase the mesh from them if I wanted the hexagon shape.

Dex, The honeycomb is 1/2" thick!!! Too much modification needed to the TRD grill to make it fit.

Following is a picture of HI98GS's GS with a TRD grill and hexagon mesh.

I guess I will contract HI98GS to see where he purchase the mesh from.

The chart indicates the honeycomb is available in 1/4" and 3/8" thickness. The diameter of the hole is 1/2".

GJSGS4:

You are correct. But even with 1/4" thickness there will be too much modification to the grill mounting and hood latch. I am looking for a flat sheet type (ie: thickness of a credit card or less) and not honeycomb type. In addition, 1/2" holes are a bit large. The one on the RMM mesh is about 1/4" to 3/8" diameter.

Did you see the rest of their meshes? There are about 3 - 5 different categories of metal ones.

Default Bingo!!! I found it!!!

By spending some more time on the www.mcmaster.com. I found the following part number 92725T42 (aluminum) and 92725T22 (steel) by searching for metal sheet then narrow it by perforated sheets.

McMaster is selling it for $34.58 for a 36"x40" aluminum sheet and $22.43 for steel sheet. Rod Millen sale it for $45 for a 36"x6" painted steel sheet. Anyone want to share the cost? I don't really need 36"x40" size. We can get up to 6 grill fitted.

Hey Dex, want to share on the purchase?

Just to let you guys know HI98GS's grill is not a TRD, its a JDM grill which was purchased from Steve Ganz.

Aloha itsallgood:

Sorry for the mistake. It sure look exactly like my TRD carbon fiber grill except it is painted. Do you know where HI86GS purchased his mesh? Does he have any left over? Don't really want to purchase the 36"x40" sheet from McMaster.com if I can avoid it. Shipping for that size will be a pain.
