so few days ago noticed a noise starting up on the car.. i was driving a little aggressive that day...can't exactly determine where its from.. seems to get louder when ac is on. it comes and goes. just is aggravating. i don't think its anything but a rattle but was concerned.

Belt tensioner maybe. Also could be the AC pulley or AC clutch.

Mine was doing this only when the a/c was on. When i cut it off or was driving it would go away. Then one night the A/C compressor just went out. i popped the hood and there was black stuff in front of the compressor which led me to a failed compressor

oh boy so u guys think any way to save the compressor? cars got 105K on it 2001 i guess i need to take to a mechanic and lay off the AC for a bit...so hard

Spray belt fluid on the belt and see if the noise goes away. if it does temporarily it needs to be tightened. About a $200 job if I remember...

I've heard of people getting rattling noises from the compressor and it turning out to be rocks that somehow managed to get in there...
