Default Quality of Ebay aftermarket headlight housings

I'm looking for options for freshening up my front end (98GS4). Considering the current value of my car, buying a pair of brand new HID housing from the dealer is out of the question. I noticed aftermarket non HID housings on ebay. Can any of you speak to the quality who have 1st hand knowledge? Do they water problems, etc. ? Any info would be great. Thanks.

I would just restore the current lenses by sanding them down. They results are next to brand new with a cost of about 20 bucks and 2 hours time max. Go to any Advanced auto parts store and ask for the headlight restoration kits. Purchase the one that comes in the chrome bag and follow the instructions and you should be set.

Pics of results enclosed.

I've used 'plastic polishers' from 3M and Meguires that only seem to benefical for about a month. Then the headlights return back their prior state. I've never tried wetsanding though. Does that product from Adanced Autoparts work better? How long does it actually stay looking like that?

I wouldn't go with the eBay aftermarket crap! Just buff you oem headlights, nothing like an oem part!

Check out AutoGeek they have a good amount of products for headlights!

I've seen the OEM aftermarket headlights in person and they are as good if not better than the OEM stuff. This is from personal experience. The tabs are actually reinforced and the one that always breaks is made out of metal. BTW I am not talking about the halo/angel eye ricer ones, but the ones that look stock but aren't by Koito. The only problem is that they are only available in halogen and you have HID housings.

Also, I've sanded and polished lenses before and it looks good, but once you turn on the headlights at night you see all the haze and fine scratches. Nothing ever beats a new lens, OEM or aftermarket.
