The lights look GREAT! Are they Hellas? They look just like my friends that I posted about a while back, but this is the first time I have seen them on the GS and they look beautiful!

Default German 7000K Hellas

My friend who sells HID's (who BTW also has those exact HID's in his car) told me that the Hellas along with Osrams are currently the most reliable and best looking (IO) HID's out right now. I have seen them on his car and the output is amazing. Plus I like how they stay that color even after they have warmed up (entire time of use). Good choice in aftermarket HID's.

Hella also "CLAIMS" to have 12000K HID's (but it's really just a name for them IMO) and they give off an extremely purple light. I have seen them and I think that the 7000K look much better. They also have a 4100k HID (which are the OEM lights for Porsche Turbos) set which give off a white light vs. the nice bluish green output of the 7000K bulbs.

4100k HIDs are OEM for ALL factory HIDs now. Lexus, Acura, whatever.

Right Globe, but I meant that the Porsche Turbos use Hella Ballasts as OEM for their HID's. I also heard that Sylvania bought Osram a few years ago and that they make the bulbs for all HID's except for maybe Phillips.

Dude, Hella only makes ballasts and projectors, not bulbs. So "Hella" and "12000K" and "7000K" have nothing to do with eachother. Hella does make some of the best projectors and ballast out there, but they by no means make or endorse bulbs rated above 6000K. There used to be an e-bay peddler who advertised "12000K Hella HIDs" until Hella contacted him and threatened to sue him (remember that guy?). Now his kits have no mention of Hella. Also Osram's highest color temperature bulb is 5400K. It's called the Osram DH-C.

4100K bulbs are undisputeably the absolute, undeniable best out there and there is nothing else I'd rather use. Some people might like more color, which is why there is a whole market out there taking advantage of that, but just letting you know that nothing beats 4100K. Sorry to rain on your post LXOGOOD, but I can't stand "12000K HIDs"---stupid, just stupid. Your HID kit's look good BTW. The coloring is lean and compliments your paint.

lex, did you read my post? I never said that Hella makes bulbs. Of coarse I know that Hella only makes the Ballast, and I specifically said that the 12000K bulbs are not real "just a name" or marketing scheme. BTW my friend who is a lighting expert/ HID vendor said that if you actually take a Kelvin meter and test all the different HID's 4100K to 12000K they will all actually measure up pretty close on the Kelvin scale. BTW I also mentioned that all HID bulbs are currently made by Sylvania/ Osram.

Just so everyone knows, the name of the kit is HID PLUS. It's a product of SPW Industries. The ballasts are German made Hella. Now... on the box there are 2 different part #'s for different colors. For blue, it's part # SPW70.10.60. That's what I got. For violet, it's SPW70.13.60. They also show a pic of the different colors reflecting off of the road. Pretty cool. Not sure if it's the bulb that makes it more violet or the ballast. Anyway, I'm very happy with them so far. I paid $500 + tax.

Just a little note: In my pics I noticed the color looks blue-green. That is not the case in person. It's like a crystal blue color. Very pretty at night. If anyone wants more info, drop me a PM.

I thought all OEM were for all factory HID's to but my friend who works at Acura told me that the TL type S has 6000k HID's stock. So I told him get me a pair so that I compare the difference, let you guys know the results when I get them...

itsallgood,

ALL OEM ARE 4100K. Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about. The "parts expert" at the Lexus dealership makes me chuckle when he tries to tell me about what I can and can't do with HIDs. I doubt anyone at car dealerships know anything about HIDs other than the selling points their training manual tells them.

JAC,

When you said "Hella also "CLAIMS" to have 12000K HID's ", that sounded to me a lot like you thought Hella made bulbs since color temperature is 100% a factor of the bulb and 0% factor of the ballast. Sorry if I confused your words. BTW, at what distance did he take measurements of color temperature. You know, when you're close enough to the power arc, everything looks white. And did he measure light output directly from the bulb or when it was mounted inside the optics?
