Buy 2000 GS400 or 2001 GS430?
We need another car and I narrowed it down to either a 2000 GS400 or 2001 GS430. Can you guys give some pros and cons about it? Not a lot of difference in price. Seems like the GS400 is about 0.3 seconds faster on 0-60.

Performance wise they are almost the same. The 400 is slightly lighter while the 430 has slightly more trq. If it were me id go for the 430 mainly because its newer.
this is coming from a 400 driver.

Coming from a 430 owner who has been around both a friends 400 and my 430, definately get the 430. The interior upgrades as well as the outside lights changing. The sweet sound of the 3uzfe. DVD nav if you get a car equipted with nav.

Thanks for the reply and link to the comparison. Now I need to get up to speed on the Lexus jargon such as what is a "3.76 lsd" etc. I've looked at a few 430's and one 400 so far. When I test drove the 400 it felt about the same as the 430 except I noticed that when punching at about 40mph to speed up to get on the freeway it seemed like the 430 pushed you back in the seat with more umph. But both drove nice.
As far as performance accessories, is pricing and availability about the same for both? With only modding the air intake and ECU what has been the experience here in 0-60 times on the 430? I've seen some intake+ECU kits in the $500-600 range claiming something like +30hp & +30 pounds of torque. Saw one post where the person clams 4.7 seconds with his but the also did something to his exhaust. I'm wouldn't be interested going much to mod the car except maybe the intake as that seems very easy to do and not too expensive.
Has anyone here driven a 2004 Acura TL to compare it to the GS400 or GS430? Not really in the running now but something another person had recommended.
I just noticed now that the comparison between the 400 and 430 link was a sticky. I feel like such a newb.

The 3.76 lsd is normally referring to the supra rear differential that people put on there cars. The 3.76 is he final drive gear ratio that comes with this setup and the LSD is the limited slid differential which basically means when you launch from a stop both tires spin instead of one. the 3.76 final drive ration will get the car going off the line faster and get you into your power band quicker.
The price of mods and mods for the 400 and 430 are pretty much the same. The intake you are refering to is the SRT intake. Its a intake that comes with a chip that basically gives you a different air fuel ratio. The thing you need to know about this intake is from what I understand you have to solder the chip onto your ECU which can be a little dicey If you dont know what your doing. But once its installed correctly people have given it good reviews and felt good gains in power.

Gs430
If I was buying another GS, I would certainly go for the GS430. Specifically something 2003-2005. Unlike the 400, the 430 (except an odd few) has the wood and leather steering wheel, ashtray, shift ****. Also the 430 has more airbags and dual stage at that. With the 03-05, you get the cool perforated leather seats. Also standard for 03 is heated seats.

01 and on has a lot of things added to make GS an even better car
(ie. more rain-x type windshield but no need to reapply anything...)
too many minor things to list but they all add up to a better overall ownership satisfaction
not to mention, better looking grill and tail lights
