With that kind of mileage, I wouldn't even bother. You should ask yourself first are you willing to keep up with the schedule maintenance and get the 2003 one.

GS4 Fiend i'm not too sure what u meant when u said with that kind of mileage. The 98 GS has 51,000 miles on it and the 03 GS has 65,372.

03 GS with 65k.... With that kind of mileage I wouldn't be worried.

Ok gotcha. As of this minute i'm leaning more towards spending the extra and going with the black 03.

I'm biased since I own a 2003 Sportdesign but I was in a similar situation when I bought my car in November. I wanted a low mileage nice Lexus that I could keep (mostly) stock and be happy with. The Sportdesign has a few nicer things than the 98 GS3 that will keep you from modding it. Plus, it looks more original and less molested than the white car from the Bronx. It is getting harder & harder to find clean sportdesigns as they were produced in limited numbers, especially in 03 when they added the trunk lip, fender emblems, floormats, better wood, nicer headlights.

That 03 (even without Navi) is probably one of the nicest stock 2nd generation GS's ever made...so, just go for it.

Eric

PS. I searched for YEARS for a stock 03 sportdesign with wood wheel + navi. They don't pop up too often.

03 hands down
stronger control arms than the 98-99s.

the mileage difference is nothing. but a newer car w/stronger arms is always nice

Thanks for the word of advice. I will definitely take this into consideration as you were practically in the same situation as i am in.

That makes a lot of sense.

After analyzing things and listening to reasoning from u guys think i'll definitely go for the 03 GS 300 over the 98 GS 300. I've been doing some more shopping around and this popped up http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/1295695698.html curious to hear you guys thoughts on this. Spoke to the owner said he would do $10,000, some really nice GS's out there. Still would take the 03 GS 300 over this though.

Dang this is a pretty tough one... I would go with the color i like (white) over little detail of 01+ stuff such as the new tails more updated interior and etc.... Everything else is replaceable so.. Also if you plan in modding the suspension no point getting a newer one because it's gonna be a different comfort after u swap it anyways. Good luck with your choice! I would go with the white because i had a black car in the past... not fun at all cleaning it. haha

I would go with the black one. For a few thousand more that pretty much makes up for it in terms of the year difference. Also keep in mind that the older 98-99 have balljoin issue. The pluse side to the black car is its a sport design (better handleing) and its black interior! Cant go wrong.

You also mention that you like your car stock. Well looking at the picture of the white car it looks like the owner did some work on it.

Since your shopping around, maybe you want to take your time and look for a 2003 sport design with saddle interior. That would be a awsome choice!
