hey supz, my ac is not working and is blowing hot air, i did do a check and seem like my compressor is not working right, so i went and got a second person to look at , at his shop, he told me that the compressor is not working as its not pumping or charging. the clutch does ingage and so, so i got a estimate and he want 1480.00 which he replacing the compressor, condensor, drier, and expansion vlave. bcuz he say the internal of the compressor metal shaving is still in teh system and if just replace the compressor only then it will happen again. i can do all the work myself except the flushingm but i can fill it up. what do you people think... should i go head and let them do the work or just replace the compressor only and take a chance>? pleaselet me know if anyone have simular problem... thankz

You really need to make sure that the compressor is really not working before you do all of that. Check the fuse. Check to see is there voltage going to the compressor. Is the compressor seized? Gotta check the simple things before jumping into conclusion. How does he knows the compressor is not really working?? THings like that and GL.
