Default GS spoiler, Serves a purpose? or no?

I know that certain spoilers make downforce in order to keep the car planted on the ground at high speeds, does the GS's spoiler work? or is it only good for looks and nothing more...

Most spoilers help. Different heights can contribute to different types of stability in different speeds. A very high touring spoiler can increase rear downforce and increase stability during high-speed cornering, while some very low type spoilers can increase down force during max-speed runs. It all depends. But most spoilers out there on the market for passenger cars are for looks only. Not many are done with wind-tunnel tests or actual aerodynamic design.

A few companies like VeilSide and C-West makes CF touring spoilers that actually work great.

Default 130 and up

spoiler on the gs would probably be useful come into effect when u are traveling above 130mph..........but not those spoiler u buy in the market but those real spoiler...........with adjustment in angles

coz when i was travelling at 130 in the desert with a strong head wind i felt like the car was kinda being lifted up......

I seem to remember reading on an online car-mag that the spoiler reduces the drag coefficient by .01...or maybe it was on the LS. For the life of me, I wish I could remember the link...I'll do a search...

I guess I was wrong...the spoiler lowers the cd for the SC430 by .01 with the addition of the spoiler. Here is the link:

The spoiler will reduce the coefficient of drag and thus increase top speed by a mile per hour or two. Downforce created by these spoilers is minimal.

most larger bootspoilers will slow the car down at top speed due to the inadequat vortex airstream....... they're only there for looks.!!!
Not like in racing cars where they are tested in windtunnels on that specific car to improve performance.

I had read about a year ago that the spoiler on the GS lowers the CD by .01. It was in one of the auto articles.

Does anybody know how many OEM spoilers there are? Is there only one (does it have a light on back)?

Unfortunately NO. Hell most spoilers don't help at all, only VERY HIGH SPEEDS. Then it depends on car to car.

Some people like the spoiler, others think it is too big and racey (it is a HUGE wing and considering this is a 50k car, kinda surprising especially since the trunklid is so short).

brendanlim, factory spoilers have the 3rd brakelight in the spoiler and no 3rd light in the rear window. Dealer installed have both. A subtle difference.
