Power windows
1998 gs400 After checking the forum and calling people and trying to read up on it..... i cant figure out why my windows dont work from inside the car...... i can roll them up and down using the key but i cant work the windows from any switch inside the car... I tried to check all fuses they seem good... under hood and paasenger fuse panel...... sucks... please help.... any suggestions??

Locked by the driver side windows buttons? No i checked that and it didnt work.... all windows dont roll down from the inside using main control on driver side or each window button.... only rolls down from outside the car and i found this out today that if the headlights are off you cant even roll them up from the outside using the key... you have to leave the headlights on to use the key to roll then down or up..... suck!!!!! help

This is a weird one. Did you have any work done to your car, like if someone would take off your doorpanel or something? Maybe the connectors are loose that go to the drivers switches? If those plugs are loose, I beleive your windows won't work. Maybe worth a try to check.

i had my friend who knows alot more than i do when it comes to car electrical stuff and he checked the door and the connectors were on tight.... and he wasnt able to see anything....
i checked the fuses but i dont know if theres one just for the power windows but if a fuses was bad wouldnt it not work using the key..... but yeah i checked the under the hood and passenger fuse box.....

Still have the same problem..... cant figure it out.... the windows cant be rolled from inside the car.... from drivers or passenger or rear... non of the windows work from inside that car.... their not locked and connectors are on tight... Please help!!!!

Sound stupid, but it often solves these problems. Unplug your battery negative terminal for 5-10mins and then reconnect. Sometimes the computers in the car go haywire and just need a quick reset.

i have 2 batteries in the car so if i disconnect the battery in the engine bay the one in the rear will still give power... i will look into trying that..

i unplugged both batteries and..... removed both positive cable from both batteries in the car.... car was fully un powered for 20-30 min and still no power windows.... wish there was someone local that could help me

Hmmm...this makes me think someone did a faulty repair and tapped the wrong wire to get power to the window control hub. I would start tracing back to the headlight switch and see what you come up with. The hub itself might be bad as well, but something definitely isn't right if your headlights have to be on to do the windows. Did you have a window module installed for control with an alarm?
