Talking Finally got them....!!!

No pics yet...but they are coming.
I mounted my 18" HREs tonight with S03 rubber.

The car's handling has changed big time!
I had to get used to it.
The cornering is just way better that I ever thought it could be. I cant even imagine with TRD sway.
The road noise is greatly increased though from my stock 16s
I feel every little bump, esspecially here in Michigan!
I guess that is the price I have to pay for performance.
My teins are a bit stiff though. I have to play with the dampening settings a bit more.
I get so much more launching power now that I can keep the tires on the ground. The tires still spin, but not as much as they did with the 16s and the TC acting up
In corners I feel some oversteer...I dont know if it just me getting used to the car's new shoes or what.....has anyone experienced this?
I bet it is just my imagination.
All in all, I am very happy with my new wheels and tires.
Now its time for some AP racing brakes!
The OEM ones just look like they need to be upgraded.
Mod fever is high in Michigan.
Later,
MIKE

Glad to hear you like your new wheels and tires. I when with 17" for MI, plus they lowered my unsprung weight.

You go/went to MSU Spartan?

Spartan congrats... couple of questions:

What size rims did you get (widths)?

Did you request a specific fitment for a bigger brake option in the future?

I'm sure the answer is yes, but does HRE basically make a rim size/fitment/offset specifically for the GS then with centering hubs?

One thing on my relatively cheap rims is that the lug nuts stick out on the fronts and are deeply recessed in the rims on the (staggered/wider) back ones. Is that the case with the HREs?

How's the balance at different speeds?

One day I still may break down and get DECENT rims like HREs but I don't want to do it if I'm still going to have issues.

Thanks in advance.

Bit,

HRE make the wheels hub centric to the point that sometimes I take the lugs off and the wheel is stuck and i have to kick it to loosen it.....

as far as the lugs on my car 10's in the rear the lugs stick out and in the front 8.5's the are flushed.

Bit, maybe I can answer some of your other questions...

Most of the HRE wheels are designed to fit big brakes. You can of course spec out a lower disk setting...they have some basic sizes that fit the GS and they'll give you the "right setup" for what YOU want to do. They're all made to order so they don't have any "basic setups" pre-made...

As for the balance, I have NEVER had an alignment on my car and I get NO VIBRATIONS from 1 MPH to 130 MPH...

As for the lug nuts, that's a combination of the wheel's design and the disc setting. Since the rear wheel usually has a lower disc setup, the lugs have less to recess into...

Default Sorry guys....

Sorry for the late reply guys.....work is crazy and school is nearing its end as well.

Overclocker....yup went to MSU for my undergrad. Did you?

Bit...
Front 18x8.5 +37
Rear 18x10 +45

The front lugs are hidden or just below flush in my opinion....I can not remember the rears....I will take pics this weekend guys...I am sorry for the delay. I dont have a digital still shot so I am waiting till the weekend when I can borrow one and also clean up the ride.

As for big brake upgrades....I dont know if all HRE wheels can fit upgrades, but I specifically ordered my HREs with the high disc option.

The balance is great....The more I drive my car the more I appreciate the new tires. These things ride like I am on rails. Hardly any slip ever. I have not even pushed the car hard into a corner yet. I have not gotten it over a 100 yet with the new tires...I will post some results if I get out this weekend.

Richie....Pics are coming....I anxious for you guys to see the car and tell me what you think. Everyone here at work is impressed.

Sorry for the late reply guys.

MIKE

You are nuts!! All that money on the unworthy Michigan roads?!?!? I remembered when I used to live in Ann Arbor and I had to change 3 sets of rims in the course of my 5 years there due to everything from busted rims to....well, busted rims....

Nice one though man! Dang!

Looks great, Mike- it's about time (LOL)!

The S-03s will feel a bit stickier after you drive 'em a couple hundred miles- the rubber needs to be 'scruffed up' a bit when the tires are new.

Mike's wheels are the 'high disk' option on the front to clear big brakes. This means he has a 1.5" lip on the front wheels: the option would be a 2.0" lip on the front wheels over stock brakes.

I like the high disk option regardless, because it emphasizes the 2.5" lip on the rear 10" wheels. The difference between a 2.0" front lip and 2.5" rear lip is not very noticeable, whereas the 1.5" front lip makes the front-to-rear difference more prominent.

Congrats!
