As you can see on Lex400SC's post, 19's on a GS do look small too. The GS just have a big FAT side profile...it needs bigger wheels....19's on a SC look perfect though due to the slimmer side profile of the SC...

Get 19's...when people tell you that the handling will down tube that's bull...19's handle just fine!

Another note: IMO, chrome wheels will always look smaller than the same wheel finished in a silver or brushed finish.

I believe this is due to the reflectivity of the chrome- it reflects a lot of whatever surface is closest to it- typically, this would be asphalt, which, of course, is black. Black wheels look small. A more 'opaque' finish (like silver or brushed) tends to emphasize the wheels' overall diameter.

There are other reasons I dislike chrome, as well...

manaray im seriously considering the Euroline FS from Work now in the 19" size, +45 offset with the O type dish on the back (whatever that means i know its lippy tho) and 10" rear and 9" front, i was wondering what finish would you recomend? i dont want it to be in any way chromeish (no high polish) but since the lips will be polish i was thinking about something like a diamond cut, do you ahve pictures of a diamond cut wheel for me? thanks man. if you have the weight of these wheels and their price i would appreciate that too thanks

Default you want 18s

your ride is low right, with the HAs, you want to keep it low right, if you get big ol rims your whole car is raised, then you have to slam it even more, opps fender rub? big rims only look good super tucked. cant do that without fender modification. and the rim size these cars race with is 18s , i thought you were more into performance. not to mention you will need to recalabrate your mph gage with anything over 18. just my opinion, your going to have to decide for yourself. it has nothing to do with price, just preference. good luck!

I do love a GS with 19s or 20s but IMO, you need to look at driving habits.

Do you drive often?
Do you drive aggresive?
Where do you drive (road quality)?
Do you mind paying a bundle for tires?
Do you track your car?

IMO, M5-245/45 18s front, 275/40/18s rear
E55 245/45/18s front, 265/40/18s rear

Good enough for them good enough for me.

Also, if you get a RIM with a LIP, it will always look 1" smaller. A 18 will look like a 17. A 19 will look like a 18 and a 20 will look like a 19. 20s straight look HUGE, 18s not bad, IMO.

If you got 18s you HAVE to drop your GS.

My 50 cents

Hmmm, I was also comtemplating 18's or 19's. I've seen a few GS's around here with 18's, and they look "dinky" relative to the car. And I am a careful driver, so I finally decided that I want to go with 19's.

I'm currently in talks with someone to get a used set of 19" Blitz Technospeed Z1's for CHEAP...hopefully it works out.

I see elclassico resurrected a year old thread, but it's an interesting one.

Offsets, spoke designs, tire size and suspension all play a role in how wheels look. 18s with a big rear lip can look kinda small.

It's funny how I thought my 17's were big until I got 18's. I think my 19's are big now I've got those. And whenever I see 20's on a GS I think THEY look perfect. But I REALLY didn't want to go to rims/tires that big and heavy.

One thing to be aware of is that tire choice is VERY limited on 19s.

With all the talk about 18's and looking small, you need to look at DavGS4's gallery.

To me they look darn near perfect.

I have had the luxury of enjoying both 18s & 19s at the same time.

I couldn't agree more. IMO, Dave's wheels are one of the best looking set of aftermarkets I've seen on a GS at any size. They just fit his car 'perfectly'.

IMO, the right choice of 18's is the perfect combination of looks, performance (weight), economy, and driveability (NVH). I just made the switch from 16's to 18's and the increase in handling / looks far outweiged the minor reduction in driveability. If you drive your car every day, I don't think anything larger than 18's is a wise choice.

I'm glad to hear this. I went with 18/8.5 & 18/9.5 inch wheels on 245/45/18 and 275/40/18. Got a good deal on Bridgestone SO-3's and these rims are only going to be for summer but I will be driving a lot so I felt 18 was definetly the better choice for my option. Also, I'm going to be dropping the car with L-Tuned Springs/Shocks. It should look good.

I'm in the same boat as you on that.

The 18's look soooo much better than the 16's, but the L-Tuned suspension is a must to make it look "right".

18's are the best choice overall in the combination of looks, comfort, handling improvement, variety available, and price.

Dex of course had to do both 18s and 19's! But I think he's still driving with those wussy wheels on right now.

I switched from 18s to 20s on my daily driving GS4. IMO, 20s are the only ones look right in place for GS
