like mr exec said. its fiber optics. i know first hand, this is a very expensive mod and it can be very time consuming.
I'd think you could do it fairly inexpensively using some of the lower end home equipment (like this). I doubt the LED variety would look as good as the Fiber Optic but would be a good compromise for a budget show car
Couldn't get around the 'time consuming' part though
very nice whitevomr is wanting to do this too. i am talking to some custom limo services here in atl. getting some good info i'll share more when i get some more info.
A lot of folks do something similar to this in their home theaters; several options / approaches if you check on home theater forums.
Looks pretty cool in a car. Not something I would ever consider doing in mine, but definitely a neat touch for a show car.
funny...i was watching some show this weekend while i was in atalanta about rich people's houses and this lady had one made for her kid....where it showed the sun rise & set/stars/shooting stars etc etc and it cost her like 15k. was nice but DAMN
there was a DIY magazine (interestingly for DUB type cars) in Japan...they used LED iirc. looked like a rats nest but they covered it back with fabric and the fabric was just enough to cover the wiring and let light through.
Any1 do this to their car? more pictures and some instruction/tips? I think it would be awesome in the 2gs. im wondering how it is done. either with many LED's or with one light source and many lenses
I used about 500 lights to do this. Its been about a week and a half since I done it, took about 14 hours but it was worth it. I posted on my YouTube channel Black Tuxedo22 it’s the most recent video I posted!
