Default HID's Dont Fit (Fog Housing)

So I bought a generic aftermarket HID kit, 3000K, 9006, for my fogs....and they dont fit! Its too long by like 3mm. Anyone else have this problem? What If I didnt screw in the backing and just used tape to seal the back? Too ghetto?

sometimes when ordering "generic" bulbs the tip of the light where that metal rod is sealed off has a extra piece of glass that extends out, it has just enough glass to make a bulb not fit in a tight housing. if that is the same problem you have if you have a dremel you can try sanding the glass a bit but be careful not to touch that metal rod. I used a few ebay bulbs in the past and had to do that to get a perfect fit.

When does it stop going in? I had a problem with a few where the rubber o-ring was too large and the bulb would not go it all the way. I swapped the o-ring off the standard bulbs & onto the HID bulb and it worked just fine.

Don't do it. Too much heat in the fogs with HIDs...and does not dissipate quick enough...this may lead to the bulb and fog housing to explode. I think it happened to Rominl a few years back.

did you compare the halogen 9006 vs your "9006" hid?? they SHOULD be the same height.

3mm bigger is pretty off..

Lots of members have HID fogs and only one (that I know about so far) has had a issue. Has anyone else have any issues like an exploding housing because if not it can probably be considered an isolated incident rather then an expected outcome.

I have had HID fogs on 4 different cars. The longest for 3 years (I sold the car) with no problems ever. I have 2 friends who have had them on their cars (98GS & 99LS) for 2-3 years and they have not had any issues either.

Can you exchange it for a 9006? If not, send me a PM, I was thinking about getting an H4 Kit for one of my cars.
