How do you calculate wheel lip?
Does anyone know the formula for calculating how much lip, in inches, a wheel will have? I am trying to figure this out for a 20x10 with an offset of 40mm.

Just use a wheel offset calculator online. With a 10" wide tire and 40mm offset you will have about 7" of backspace.

40mm= 1.5inches.
So that means the spokes are out 1.5inches from the barrel center. (40mm Off the middle setting)
Barrel is 10 inches, so you have 5 - 1.5 = 3.5 inches of lip.
Some one correct me if im wrong.

Thanks everyone. I guess I figured it was an easy calculation and didnt have so many variables. The wheels are Asanti AF135 3-piece. I am trying to determine what will meet my wants/needs before ordering.

tell asanti to tell you or the shop that you are buying from. The wheels should have a spec sheet. And why do you want to go with such a "standard" size when ordering custom 3 piece wheels? Not hating at all, but maybe just stating the obvious at the same time.

I want to be able to put a 275-30-20 rear tire on without having to do any mods/altering to the actual car. Everything needs to fit properly the first time because I am not willing to cut up my fenders, or take out plastic in the wells.
