Since the shape of the uca/balljoint is cylindrical, I may opt to use a circular saw too. props to dRo15 for sharing his pics.
here is a better looking setup....cut out and boxed up, looks OEM also

Thanks for sharing, I definitely need to have this done cause my uca bangs pretty hard on small bumps.

Can anyone post pics of the tool you used?

I bought a 2.5" hole attachement which was basically a white metal cylinder with a jagged edge. Attached this to the drill and I could not get this to cut through the fender. It would basically catch on the metal fender and skip all over the place. Really did a number on the inside of my fender. I haven't been able to cut through.

One from the LS400 section:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/6332599-post157.html

The hole saws have a pilot drill but an easy approach prior to is to drill the pilot hole first. That way you insure you are in the right spot and the hole saw pilot bit will easily feed on that first hole.

A hole saw like this but this one is for a different material...just so you can see the pilot bit:

After all these years....I still have to shake my head at that cut for the UCA...LOL...Please if you do this mod people, FINISH IT. Make a cover, weld it in, and paint it to look factory. Any hack can take a sawzall or hole saw to their car.

OK......lets see some before and after pics (side profile) of your rides now that you cut the holes for the UCA ball joint in the engine bay.

How much lower (for those with air suspension) does it sit when slammed?

I likes the curvature on yours.
Have seen some creative approaches and it depends how much fab and skill one wants to involve. Have seen domed, anime shapes...some pretty wild stuff.
