Default how much would a dealer give for a modded car?

just a question..

i mean how many of you guys would just trade in the yalls modded GS to the dealer? How much would you think the dealer would give you? my guess is what the value of the car. bc they dont give a crap about the mods.

what are yalls opinion? more the market value b/c of the mods or just value of the car????

thats why I have kept all of my stock parts and will someday put it back to stock before selling it. Even selling it to private party you'll take less unless it is an exceptionally well done vehicle that has people wanting it specifically.

....if you have a lot of mods I would just sell privately; you'll get more for it. Even if you have ALL stock parts laying around it would cost $$$ to put all stock parts back on.

For example I have the S&S headers on my GS400. The labor was rated at 12 hours to install (book rate) but my shop only charged me 8 hours. Still, almost $700 bucks for the install. So it would be damn near close to that to uninstall and re-install the stock manifolds that I kept.

From there I may only be able to sell my "now used" S&S headers for $500 so I would then be $200 in the hole. Does not make sense. So, in short...my headers are staying on my car regardless if I sell it privately or trade it in to a dealership. You must weigh everything out. GL!

I would try to sell it privately instead of the stealership. THere are cars all day long that are selling and that are modded. IMO if i was buying a GS i would want something that already has suspension and possibly rims already on the vehicle. IT saves time and extra money in the long run. I hope to one day sell my GS as a whole and not break it down back to stock. It can be expensive. besides mods such as my molded TTE lip and Teins i wont touch. THose are the hottest items on a GS..

yes depending on which rims and suspension it has. i personally would pass on a gs with tein as im a tein hater since i owned some along time ago. but if i go look at a car that has some HKS coilovers and some absoulte profound rims i would jump on it

But how many Lex's do you run across at dealerships where they know what kind of coils are on there or hell for that matter if the even know what kind of exhaust if there is one? I've sold cars so I know my Shiznit but you think some white collared 40+family guy that has driven a chevy or ford his whole life would know that? Hey 40+ family guys that are going to respond, you are an exception. thats why you are on CL!

I would post it here on CL! This is where you'll find people who will appreciate what you have done!

Depends on where you are trading the car in. A Lexus dealer will pick up on more things then most other dealers. I have left things on cars because its just not worth the cost to remove and what you get to sell.

I've been working for Lexus and selling cars at the Lexus dealership for seven years now. Typically, any mods won't get you anything unless they're OEM (ex: F-Sport or GSpyders). Also, any car with suspension modifications can NOT be Lexus Certified. Lexus requires us to sell a lot of Certified cars, so we'll have to get most everything back to stock before we can sell it. Therefore, you'll typically get less for a modded car, because it will cost us more money just to sell it. So, sell your parts on your own, you'll get more money.
