I got the same problem on my 98 GS 400. For some of you, here's a temporary option: Under the CBEST settings, one of the options allows you to disable the auto wheel lift when you remove the key from the ignition. The dealer should do this for cheap, or even free.
Some other cool CBEST settings (my favorite):
Using the remote, press open door lock 1 time, and all doors will open; Press the trunk open button (you do not need to press and hold for 1 second anymore), and the trunk will open instantly; Adjust how loud you want the "beep" to be when you open or close the car using the remote; All doors lock automatically when car goes into drive and unlock when you go into park. Actually, you can control about 20 more different things with the CBEST. Gotta love Lexus for that.
One thing that really sucks, I haven't figured out a way to disable the following: If you press the "door open" button on the remote, after 30 seconds the car will lock itself again automatically. Easy way to get locked out if your door sensors don't work all the time like mine. I consider all these little glitches very minor problems and they are nothing compared to the usual problems that BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Cadillac owners face. Those cars are such disasters, that most owners don't even consider what we talk about as problems, they just live with them and worry about bigger things. Isn't it amazing that not even one person in this forum has ever had a major mechanical problem?

What works for me
I posted this same subject a year ago. All I can say is that WD40 works for about six months and I have to relube it. Make sure you apply the stuff in the screw looking motor which moves the steering wheel up and down. If anybody knows a better lube, holla back.

Lexus use special kind of grease for the steering column this is the part number 08887-02007. It's light yellow in color in a small plastic bottle ( 50 grams). The retail is $45.00, but don't buy it. Go to Lexus service dept. and go talk to one of the tech and ask him to spare some of the steering column grease. They probably have about 10 or more laying around in the shop.

Sta lube is made by CRC Industries and number 3174 is a CV Joint Grease of Moly and lithium according to their website. Should be available for much less and still fit the Lexus Spec.

Sta lube is made by CRC Industries and number 3174 is a CV Joint Grease of Moly and lithium according to their website. Should be available for much less and still fit the Lexus Spec.
